University
Outreach is a resource to the greater Flint community, building
bridges between the university and the community it serves. The
quotes above are just a sampling from those who have been touched
by University Outreach.
Last
year University Outreach facilitated faculty and students in touching
the lives of over 700 community school students, primarily in
Flint, and provided over 14,000 hours of service and volunteerism
to the Genesee County area. Over 1,000 university students were
engaged in various programs that utilized the expertise of at
least 110 UM-Flint faculty. Due to work initiated and coordinated
by University Outreach, our streams are cleaner, our businesses
and organizations function more efficiently, and more of our children
are able to read and stay in school.
Formed
in 1998, University Outreach brings together our Center for Applied
Environmental Research, Center for Service Learning and School
Partnerships, Office of Community and Business Partnerships and
"Amaizing U" non-credit courses, including our faith-based
program; representing a total of over twenty years of community
service. We are committed to creating meaningful partnerships
that meet the challenges of our community by linking faculty,
students and staff with community organizations and K-12 students
in mutually beneficial relationships.
We
Need Your Support
The numerous programs and resources offered by the various centers
of University Outreach are funded almost entirely by private and
government grants; 15% of the total budget is provided by the
University of Michigan-Flint.
By Donating to University Outreach
You are Leaving a Footprint in the Community
Without your support, our partnerships will be greatly limited.
Not only will your donation help us continue to build bridges
in our community, you will help University Outreach continue to
make a difference in the greater Flint area.
Please
take a few moments to review the following opportunities and how
you could help us leave a footprint in our community.
Annual Giving Fund

Dollars contributed to University Outreach's Annual Fund, which
are unrestricted, will be used to support the wide range of programming
provided through Outreach to the Greater Flint community. Annual
Fund donations are essential in terms of enriching and enhancing
current programming, and in providing a means to cover expenses
attributed to normal growth from year to year.
On
behalf of the university, help us continue to build successful
partnerships that meet the challenges of our community by linking
faculty, students and staff with community organizations and k-12
students in mutually beneficial relationships. Donate to an Annual
Fund that will help University Outreach in our mission of utilizing
the resources of the University of Michigan-Flint to better the
quality of life and education of the people of Genesee County.
