Destination Cuba!

Veradero Beach |
As
part of University Outreach's (UO) non-credit class curriculum,
"Amaizing U", UO expanded their community service boundaries
by hosting an educational trip.
The
first destination chosen was to the forbidden island of Cuba!
Outreach staff and area residents experienced, first-hand, the
Cuban way of life during this seven-day trip March 25 - April
1, 2001. "Exposure to another culture and the opportunity
to learn about and mingle with Cuban citizens" is what travelers
valued in terms of overall experience, along with the beauty of
this historically rich island.
Due
to overwhelming response, a return tour was hosted February 24
- March 3, 2002, consisting of an itinerary for return travelers
(Cuba 201) and the itinerary from last years trip for new participants
(Cuba 101).
A
destination for Winter 2003 has yet to be determined. Another
trip to Cuba is being considered, along with other destinations.
